The building's narrow prow faces north at this intersection, and the camera shows the approach from Fifth Avenue toward the building's tip. The Flatiron District's Commercial Character

The district developed its current character from the 1990s onward, when the buildings in this area that had served light manufacturing and warehouse functions converted to commercial offices for the technology, media, and advertising industries.
