Roosevelt Ave @ Broadway & 74 St: Roosevelt Avenue runs east from Queens Plaza through Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, and Flushing, and is one of the most ethnically diverse commercial corridors in the world. The camera at Broadway and 74th Street covers the Jackson Heights section of this corridor, which has the largest concentration of South Asian and Latin American businesses on the avenue.

Flushing's Commercial Character on Camera
The Flushing Main Street and the surrounding blocks have a commercial density that approaches Manhattan's Midtown in intensity, but at a lower building scale. The streets are narrower in the core area, the storefronts turn over more rapidly than in other neighborhoods, and the sidewalk density during shopping hours is among the highest in Queens.

The 7 Train and Transit Context
The 7 train's elevated structure runs along Roosevelt Avenue for most of its length through Queens, from Queens Plaza in Long Island City east to Flushing-Main Street. Mets home games produce a recognizable traffic pattern on the Grand Central Parkway and the surrounding streets: a buildup before game time, near-normal conditions during the game, and a concentrated spike at game end. The US Open, which runs for two weeks in late August and early September, produces a two-week period of elevated traffic on the roads serving the site.
The Flushing Meadows-Corona Park Cameras
Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, which contains the Unisphere (the large steel globe built for the 1964 World's Fair), Citi Field, the USTA center, the Queens Museum, and several other institutions, is bordered by Grand Central Parkway camera positions that show traffic on the roads surrounding the park.
