Caméra en direct Central Park: Watching NYC's Most Famous Green Space in Real Time

Central Park covers 843 acres in the center of Manhattan, and several NYCDOT camera feeds ring its perimeter and interior. The NYC Live Command Center carries these feeds continuously, giving a real-time ground-level view of the park's surrounding streets and the activity that defines different sections at different times of day.

In spring and fall the foliage changes are visible even at traffic camera resolution. The western edge of the park runs through the Upper West Side neighborhood, and the camera views show the residential character of this block — the Dakota apartment building at 72nd Street is one of the most recognized buildings on this stretch.

Caméra Central Park Sud/Avenue des Amériques : At Columbus Circle and along Central Park South at the park's southern edge. This is where the skyline context is strongest. The cameras here show the bottom of Midtown Manhattan visible above the park's tree line — the GM Building, the Plaza Hotel facade, and the towers of 57th Street visible above the park's southeastern corner.

Quels changements par saison

Printemps: The most dramatic change. The trees along Central Park West go from bare branches to full leaf canopy between early April and mid-May. The camera feeds during this period show the gradual greening of what was a gray-brown wall of branches throughout winter. By mid-May the canopy is dense enough that you can't see far into the park from the perimeter cameras.

Été: Maximum foliage. The park is at its most opaque from the outside. Traffic on Central Park West is lighter on weekends when the park drives are closed to cars, and the camera shows the shift in who's using the street — cyclists and pedestrians who've spread beyond the park boundaries.

The intersection where Broadway, Eighth Avenue, and Central Park South converge at the park's southwest corner is covered by three camera feeds. Columbus Circle is one of Manhattan's busiest intersections and one of its most recognizable. The circular monument at the center, the Time Warner Center towers at its northern edge, and the park entrance are all visible from these camera positions.

The park closes at 1 a.m. and reopens at 6 a.m. The nighttime camera feeds along Central Park West show the park boundary at its most serene. The park lighting inside is minimal — a few lamp posts along the main drives — and the camera view from outside shows the dark silhouette of trees against the lit skyline above. This is one of the quieter nighttime camera views in Manhattan despite being in the middle of one of the world's busiest cities.
