How to read a traffic still like an operator
Start with density and gaps. Then look for the cause of any stoppage: cones, emergency lights, a stalled truck, flooding, or a merge that has simply exceeded capacity. Cause matters because it predicts recovery. A short rubberneck delay clears differently from a full lane closure.
Compare upstream and downstream. A clear far-side camera with a jammed near-side camera means you can plan an exit before the wall. Two jammed cameras mean the corridor is done for your departure window.
Sun glare, rain, and dirty housings reduce clarity. When one tile is unreadable, step to the next camera on the same road rather than inventing a story from a washed-out frame.

TV loops and social reposts can lag by hours. A screenshot with no fresh refresh is not a live check. Prefer auto-refreshing public feeds when the decision is same-day.
